Welcome to Truth Pathway
H!, I’m Marilyn Payne, and I thank you for joining me today at Truth Pathway. I’m so glad you’re here! If this is your first visit, let me just tell you a little about me and what you will find on this site.
I am a Christian. I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior. Although I have been in church all my life, I haven’t always followed what the Bible instructs us to do in order to have a full and joyful life that honors God. But, that said, I’m thankful that the Lord one day helped me to see that following Him is life. In fact, it is truly an adventure! And in the process of this journey, I am learning that part of living the Christian life is about helping others to also live a full and joyful life in Christ.
So, that brings us to what you will find here at Truth Pathway. You know, I said that in the past I didn’t always live what the Bible teaches? (Sounds familiar to just about all of us, right?!) Well, life got to be pretty messy during those times. And since I began following Jesus, learning how to endure through and be victorious over those difficulties has been the key to knowing God more. It has helped me to trust and follow Him more. I would like to share with you how I’ve learned to practice and live by the truths of God’s Word, the Bible. My hope is that it will help you to grow in your journey with the Lord as well.
As I began to be a serious student of God’s Word, I found that His Word is absolutely true. In any difficulty that I didn’t know how to handle, I discovered I could find Biblical truth to help me in that situation. Then, as I looked more closely to that truth, I would find that it also had a good purpose for me. For example, Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” This is truth, because all scripture is from God whose character is always true. The explicit purpose for my life in that truth has two parts. First, if I live by the word of God, He will shine the light of truth in the darkness of this world so I will be able to see where to step in this journey (it is the lamp for my feet). Second, I will know which direction to take (it shines a light on the path ahead so I can see Him leading me as I travel this life). But I’m also one of those people who needs practical step-by-step methods for learning. That’s where God’s Word and His purpose in that Word combined become the wisdom I need for how to use that knowledge I’m gaining. So I would ask the Lord to give me insight for a step-by-step process of living by that truth. It might look like this for Psalm 119:105:
1. Meditate on Scripture daily. It is the lamp for my feet and the light for my path. It is my ‘roadmap’ for life!
2. Pray that God will help me to be open to what He wants to teach me in the passage I’m studying. 3. Journal the insights, thoughts and prayers that come to my mind during this quiet time with the Lord.
4. Look for ways during the day to incorporate into my daily life all I’m learning.
5. Remember that I am being transformed by the renewing of my mind so that I may be able to test and approve what God’s will is–His good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)
